WSGA Women’s Amateur winners

Angela Zhang of Bellevue, Wash. defended her title at the 30th Washington Women’s Amateur; Jacqueline Bendrick of Mercer Island won her third straight title in the 14th Women’s Mid-Amateur; Kim Shek of Bellevue shot rounds of 75-78 to win the 24th Washington Senior Women’s Amateur; while Karen Madison of Spokane Valley won the 10th Super Senior Women’s Amateur.

The four championships were held concurrently at Wing Point Golf & Country Club and conducted by Washington Golf.

The 14-year-old Zhang shot rounds of 73-69-72 to secure a comfortable wire-to-wire victory. She won by eight shots over runner-up Grace Lee of Bellevue.

Jacqueline Bendrick successfully defended her title in the Women’s Mid-Amateur after rounds of 71-76-82. This is the third year in a row that she has won this championship, making her the first three-time winner in the history of the event. Finishing in second place, eight shots back was Sarah Lawrence of Monroe.

In the Senior Women’s Amateur Kim Shek began the final round tied for the lead with defending champion Sandra Turbide of Maple Ridge, B.C. The two were paired together in the final round. Shek got off to a strong start, shooting even par on the front-nine and building a three-shot lead. Turbide couldn’t close the gap on the back-nine.
