WJGA crowns 2021 champions

Lauryn Nguyen of Seattle fired a final round 4-under par 68 to cap off a tremendous week to win the 44th Annual Washington Junior Golf Association (WJGA)State Girls’ Championship, while Ethan Evans of Mercer Island shot a final round even-par 71 to capture the State Boys’ Championship.

Nguyen’s three-day total of 14-under par 202 gave her an impressive eight-shot victory over second-place finisher Montgomery Ferreira of Tacoma. 

On the boys’ side, Evans’ shot a three-day total of 8-under par 206. In today’s final round he eagled the par-5 14th hole to take control of the championship, building a three-shot lead and cruised to the clubhouse to win by three shots. There was a four-way tie for second place at 5-under par with Mukilteo’s Daniel Kim, Stanwood’s Conrad Chisman, DuPont’s Jahan Bains, and Spokane’s Tommy Kimmel.
