Corey Prugh did it again – this time at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Wash.
Prugh, an assistant professional at Manito Golf and Country Club in Spokane, led from start to finish to win the Northwest Open Invitational. Prugh had earlier claimed the Rosauers Invitational in Spokane, another major championship in the Pacific NW.
Prugh pulled away from the field throughout the three rounds of the Northwest Open, which featured the top amateurs and professionals from the Pacific Northwest. Prugh opened with a 68, followed with another 68 and then finished with a 70 to win by five shots over defending champion Brian Thornton and amateur Dan Whitaker, who both finished at 211.
Ryan Malby of Village Greens was fourth while amateur Derek Barron of Oakbrook was fifth at 214. Brandon Kearney of Bend, Derek Berg of Glendale and Matt Epstein of Everett all tied for fifth.
Prugh collected a check of $7,000 for winning the tournament.
