Pacific Northwest native and golf course designer John Harbottle III created a masterpiece when he did his work at Palouse Ridge. And when he passed away in 2012, the course decided to make sure that golfers knew who was responsible for the course.

Palouse Ridge has created a Tournament called the John Harbottle III Pro-Am in his honor as well as dedicating the 15th hole at the course in his memory.

The John Harbottle III Pro-Am is set for June 1 at Palouse Ridge and features Pro-Am teams with a format of one gross and two net balls per team. There will be practice rounds available, a hosted cocktail party, putting contest and hole-in-one prizes. The total purse is $25,000 with $4,000 going to the first-place professional. Entry fee is $150 for professionals and $250 for amateurs. For information call Palouse Ridge at 509.335.4342.

Palouse Ridge also dedicated the par-4 15th hole on the course to Harbottle. The 15th hole has just about everything Palouse Ridge is known for and was one of Harbottle’s prized holes on the course. There are 360-degree visuals from countless vantage points on the course and Harbottle himself said that it could be his favorite short par-4 in all of golf. Harbottle died in May of 2012 while working on a project in California but his memory remains at Palouse Ridge.

More about Palouse Ridge
There is plenty to like about Palouse Ridge, the John Harbottle III-designed course that took the place of the old nine-hole campus course at Washington State University.

When the course opened in 2008, the awards rolled in quickly. Palouse Ridge was named among the top new courses to open that year as well as becoming a fixture on the top courses list in the state of Washington.

And as a result, the course is a place where big tournaments go. Palouse Ridge has hosted the Washington State Men’s Amateur, U.S. Public Links and U.S. Amateur qualifying, the Pac-12 Women’s Championship and the NCAA Men’s Division 1 Regional.

In 2014 the course will host the PNGA Men’s Amateur and in 2015,will be the site of the Pac-12 Men’s Championship.

Palouse Ridge is sprawled throughout the rolling hills and offers some of the best views you will see. The course plays to 7,308 yards from the tips but there are tees for every level of golfer. The elevated tee boxes from virtually every hole presents great views of the fairways as well as the surrounding Palouse scenery.

There are straight holes, doglegs and fairways with slopes. There are greens with speed and slope. And don’t forget about the water, sand and wetlands which all come into play.

Green fees are $99 for non-residents and $50 for golfers who live within 40 miles of the course. Annual passes are also available for $2,000 or a couple or family for $2,600.

With a variety of prices and an even more variety of golf holes, Palouse Ridge has it all.
