NW professionals and amateurs tie at the 2014 Hudson Cup; senior amateurs claim their crown

The professionals and amateurs were fit to be tied at the 66th Hudson Cup while the senior amateurs knocked off the professionals to win the 23rd annual Senior Hudson Cup at Tualatin Country Club near Portland.

The event features the top amateurs and professionals from the Pacific Northwest playing in a two-day Ryder Cup-style match.

The professionals and amateurs were tied from start to finish. Both teams scored five points in the two-player format while each team also scored five points each in the singles format.

The senior amateurs led after the two-player format and then extended their lead by winning 6 1/2 points in the singles matches to win 12 1/2 to 7 1/2 in the event.

The Charles Congdon Award for top amateur player went to Sean Packer and the Larry Lamberger Award for top professional was presented to Tim Feenstra. In the Senior Matches, The Bill Eggers Award for best amateur was presented to Alex Stamey while Joe Carranza was bestowed the Bob McKendrick Award for the top senior player.
