Northwest professionals Erdmann, Coston qualify for PGA Championship

Pacific Northwest professionals Scott Erdmann of Oswego Lake and Jeff Coston of Semiahmoo Resort will play in one of the PGA Tour’s major championships this month.

Erdmann and Coston both finished in the top 20 of the National Club Professionals Championship to earn tickets to the Atlanta Athletic Club, set to host the PGA Championship Aug. 11-14.

Erdmann finished in a tie for second at the 44th PGA Professional National Championship after posting rounds of 65-68-69-72-274. He finished the 72nd hole for the championship tied with David Hutsell from Baltimore, MD and Faber Jamerson from Lynchburg, VA forcing a playoff.

Coston of Semiahmoo G&CC also qualified with his tie for 16th place. Coston was on the outside looking in heading into the final round but shot a final-round 71 to move into the top 20 and earn his spot in the PGA Championship.
