Bandon Dunes Resort owner Mike Keiser had big plans to add another golf course on the Oregon Coast, but not be a part of his Bandon Dunes Resort. The project was called Bandon Links and Keiser had hired architect Gil Hanse to do the preliminary work.

Keiser had plans to offer a world-class golf course for greens fee as little as $10 per round for Coos and Curry County residents. There were other big plans for a caddy program and scholarship ideas.

However, those plans have not been scuttled said Keiser. Keiser said that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) said that in keeping with federal regulations the fees charged must be commensurate with other golf courses on BLM lands and that the revenues would have to be devoted to use on the property, That took care of any change for the low local rates for the golf course, the scholarship program. In addition, well testing met with disappointing results. As a result of all the problems, Keiser said he is abandoning the project.

He did say he will seek a site where the same programs would be viable.
