First it was the Senior Open at Sahalee, then the 53 year-old Bernhard Langer takes charge of the Boeing Classic held at Snoqualmie Ridge. Langer now has five Champions Tour victories and two came from the Seattle area.

“It must be the air here in Seattle,” said Langer. “Maybe I should move here.” He also stated that both courses have very good greens, which apparently made the difference as he had only 75 putts in the entire event – the fewest of any player on the Champions Tour this year.

Three strokes back, in second place, was Nick Price who started the final round one-stroke back and was never able to threaten Langer’s lead.

Seattle native Fred Couples, who challenged Langer at Sahalee, shot a final round of 67 to finish with a 207, good for a third-place finish.

“To come back and play two weeks has been truly remarkable,” said Couples. “This week was just as much fun as Sahalee.” He also said he plans to return every year for the event and expressed his regrets that he didn’t win at either of this year’s tournaments.
