Ryan Benzel of Pro Golf- Lynwood (Lynnwood, WA) won a sudden-death playoff over Jason Pitt of Chewelah G&CC (Chewelah, Wash.) and Corey Prugh of Manito G&CC (Spokane, Wash) to claim the Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship.

Benzel led after round two and opened the final round with three straight birdies. He then birdied the 10th to go five under for the day and then parred the final eight holes before winning in a playoff. Pitt fired the day’s low round of 64 to get into the playoff. The PGA Professional Championship is a 54 hole individual competition. The top eight qualifiers from the PNW PGA Professional Championship earned spots to the 46th National Championship at Sunriver Resort on June 23-26, 2013. Joining Benzel, Prugh and Pitt will be Brady Sharp of Walla Walla CC (Walla Walla, Wash.), Tim Feenstra of Broadmoor GC (Seattle), Scott Erdmann of Oswego Lake CC (Lake Oswego, Ore.), Chris Lisk of Glendale CC (Bellevue, Wash.), Casey McCoy of The Dalles CC (Dalles, Ore.), and Jerrel Grow of Pronghorn (Bend, Ore.).

Jeff Coston and Corey Prugh already have advanced and earned spots at the national championship, which will be played at Sunriver’s Meadows and Crosswater courses.
