Amateur claims title at Northwest Open

Amateur Graham Moody of Royal Oaks in Vancouver turned back Jeff Coston of Semiahmoo in a one-hole playoff to win the Northwest Open Invitational at the Home Course in DuPont.

Moody and Coston both finished the three-round tournament at 11 under par. Moody then beat Coston in a one-hole playoff to earn the championship, which was played at the Home Course for the first time.

The ageless Coston, who at 64 years old just keeps on contending in the PGA Northwest Section major championships.

Amateur Dalton Dean led after the first round shooting a 63. Dean finished third at 9 under par.

There was a logjam at fourth including Harrison Moir, Dante Heitschmidt, Cory Mehl, Hunter Wescott and Daniel Campbell.
