Sean Packer of Seattle, Tom Brandes of Bellevue, Katie Lee of Silverdale, and Yasue Alkins of Lacey came out victorious in their respective divisions at the 3rd Annual Washington State Champion of Champions held at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash. on a day that did not lack for compelling storylines in rainy conditions.

The story of the day was Packer, whose impressive competitive course record 66 helped him overcome an 11 stroke deficit entering the final round and propelled him to victory in the Men’s Division.

Packer birdied six of the first seven holes on the front nine, an impressive feat, and one that positioned him perfectly to overtake first round leader Craig Larson of Tacoma down the stretch. He added one more birdie on the par-5 16th hole on his way to a two-day, 1-over par 144 and a two-stroke victory over Larson, who finished at 3-over par 147. Dana Christianson, also of Tacoma, finished three back at 4-over par 148.
In the Inaugural Senior Men’s division, four players entered the final round with a share of the lead, but Brandes came out on top after shooting a 2-under par 70 to win by three over Keith Crimp of Ellensburg.
