LPGA & Champions tours big hits in the Pacific NW

When Stewart Cink woke up Sunday morning before the final round of the Boeing Classic at the Snoqualmie Ridge Golf Club, he probably didn’t give himself much of a chance. He trailed the leader by four shots and knew he needed something low to get in the mix. But that’s just what he did.

Cink came up with a final-round 65 to force a playoff with Miguel Angel Jiminez – a playoff that Cink won on the first playoff hole by making a birdie. It was the seventh playoff in the 21-year history of the Boeing Classic

And as usual big crowds were on hand to follow some of the best golfers that the tours has to offer.

Pacific Northwest native Fred Couples finished in a tie for 10th at 10 under, and did get to within one stroke of the lead at one point. It was Couples’ best finish since a tie for third in 2019.

In Portland, the Standard Portland Classic is the longest-running tournament on the LPGA Tour schedule and Thitkul from Thailand won for the 10th time in her career and the 23-year-old pocketed $300,000 for claiming the championship at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland.
