• The Federal Way Chamber Golf Classic
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The 2012 Comcast Golf Classic hosted by the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce will be held at Twin Lakes Golf & Country Club on Friday July 13, 2012 with a 12:00 p.m. shotgun start.

The Federal Way Chamber Golf Classic is an excellent opportunity for businesses to network and shine in the spotlight while enjoying a fun day of golf. The day will include: 18 holes of golf with Federal Way’s finest business people; Million Dollar Hole-in-One Contest; Putting Contest; Awards Dinner to honor the winners – and many more surprises! We are also offering non-golfers an opportunity to join in on the Awards Dinner for added fun, networking, and team building.

There are 10 foursomes left to fill and each ticket includes golf, carts, lunch and a BBQ Awards Dinner.

Cost is $125 per golfer or $500 for a foursome.

• ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Registration is taking place now for golfers wanting to participate in the tenth annual Jon Kitna Wildcat Classic, presented by Wells Fargo Advisors. It is the largest annual fundraiser for athletic scholarships at Central Washington University. This year’s tournament will be held Thursday, July 12, at Suncadia in Cle Elum.

The four-person scramble is a gross tournament, which means there are no handicaps. Golfers can choose one of three divisions: Open, for any player; Alumni, where at least three members of a foursome must be CWU alumni; and Senior, where a minimum of three players on a foursome must be at least 55 years old.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m. on the morning of the event, followed by the shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. This is the first time that golfers in the Wildcat Classic will have the chance to play simultaneously on both the Prospector and Rope Rider courses.

A total of 288 golfers are expected this year and only a limited number of spaces are still available. The event is named for Jon Kitna, who played quarterback in the National Football League for fifteen years following his record-setting career at Central. Kitna retired this past January. He is now a math teacher and head football coach at Lincoln High School, in Tacoma, which is his alma mater.

• Whispering Firs will host charity Tee Off for a Cure
Whispering Firs at Joint Base Lewis McChord will be the host for Tee Off For A Cure Tournament, set for Aug. 18.

The four-player tournament will have its proceeds benefit the Northwest Chapter of Huntington’s Disease Society of America.

Entry fee is $100 per player and includes a gate pass, golf cart and range balls, tee prizes, dinner and drinks.

• Jefferson County Amateur set for Discovery Bay Golf Course
The Jefferson County Amateur is set for Aug. 18-19 at Discovery Bay Golf Course in Port Townsend. The event is open to all amateurs. The Jeff Co Am has been revitalized into a golfer’s competition of the classic vintage. Competitors will be vying for low net in two divisions and low gross. Low gross will be declared the Jeff Co Am champion. His name will be engraved on a permanent trophy that includes winners from the 1930s. Low gross and low net will receive trophies for their mantle.

Entry fee is $125 dollars, which includes two rounds of competition, a practice round and range balls each day of the tourney. $25 of entry fee goes to the prize fund. • Riverbend Am set for Aug. 11-12
The Rivebend Amateur is set for Aug. 11-12 at Riverbend Golf Course. The tournament typically features one of the strongest amateur fields in the Pacific Northwest.

The two-day tournament is individual stroke play and features a skins game on Aug. 10. For information call Riverbend at 253.854-3673.

• GolfWorld Pacific Amateur set for August 28-31 in C. Oregon
The 16th annual GolfWorld Pacific Amateur is set for Aug. 28-31 at some of Central Oregon’s best courses.

The tournament, which draws up to 750 players each year, is a three-day individual event in which players are put into flights. The top two finishers from each flight qualify for the championship round at Sunriver’s Crosswater.

The tournament features a net format for all players. All players will need a USGA handicap and will receive over $200 in entry prizes for signing up.

• Snoqualmie Valley Golf Academy will host pair of junior tournaments
The Snoqualmie Valley Golf Academy will be hosting a pair of junior tournaments in August.

Snoqualmie Valley Golf Academy, which is a golf academy for juniors, was founded by Brandon Proudfoot. Tournaments for juniors are available for 18 and 36 holes.

The 36-hole tournaments are scheduled from Aug. 4-5 at Tumwater Valley Golf Course and The Home Course and Aug. 18-19 at Legion Memorial and Walter Hall in Everett.
