Portland’s Glendoveer offers a golfing doubleheader during the fall, winter

Glendoveer is a one-of-a-kind complex with two 18-hole golf courses, a heated and lit double-decker driving range, four indoor tennis courts, racquetball courts, an 18-hole FootGolf course that doesn’t interfere with golfers, and a 2-mile walking/jogging path covered with bark chips around the perimeter.

Von Ebert Brewing opened the Glendoveer location in early 2018 and provides the food, beer and spirits. The courses are called the East Course (6,570 yards, par 73) and West Course (6,086 yards, par 72).

Going way back to 1926, Glendoveer opened for play and holds the distinction of being the first 36-hole golf facility in the region. The course has had several owners over the years and each one has made improvements to the facility.

One of the lease holders, Gillian Recreation, Inc. built the clubhouse, tennis courts and driving range. The course is managed by CourseCo.

While nether of the courses are considered long by today’s standard, both are lined with tall trees that can make for some tight fairways and what they lack in distance is more than compensated for by the need to be accurate with shots.

Always a great bargain and value, winter rates at the course were put into effect in mid October.  For those who want to have a different experience, golf boards are available to rent.
