Two spots in the national championships were up for grabs in each qualifier. Next year the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball is set for May 22-27, 2020 at Philadelphia Cricket Club in Philadelphia, Pa., while the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball will be held April 25-29, 2020 at Quail Creek Country Club in Naples, Fla.

In the women’s qualifier, it was the venerable duo of Amanda Jacobs and Gretchen Johnson who took medalist honors, combining for six birdies en route to their 4-under par 68.

They were joined by Ellen Port and Lara Tennant, who posted a 3-under par 69, as tandems who qualified for the 2020 national championship.

The pair of Joshua Chen and Trey Pflug took the top spot in the men’s qualifier with a 9-under par 63. Plfug posted a 70, while Chen had a 73, but the two combined for nine timely birdies on their way to the win. Mason Bonn and Matteo Polla combined for 8-under par, as did the tandem of Mateo Fuenmayor and Andrew Reinhardt, which forced a playoff for the second and final qualifying spot. The playoff was suspended until Tuesday due to darkness. When play resumed in the morning, it was Bonn-Polla who recorded a birdie on the first hole to earn a spot in the national championship.
