WinCo Foods Portland Open wins national award

The Web.com Tour honored four tournaments, one volunteer and a charity with the annual season-ending Tournament Awards.

The WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by KraftHeinz, contested each year since 2014 at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club’s Witch Hollow Course near Portland, Oregon, claimed the prestigious honor of Tournament of the Year.

As the winner of the Tournament of the Year Award, the WinCo Foods Portland Open succeeded in putting forth a top-notch tournament on all applicable fronts, including:

Raised a tournament-record $1.75 million for charity in 2018, bringing the all-time total to nearly $6 million in just five years.

Grew “The Grove” on No. 12 with vendors, breweries, buzz and entertainment to increase onsite fan engagement. Provided top-notch player experiences, including private access to the Nike store.

Tremendous venue in the Witch Hollow Course at Pumpkin Ridge, which was voted as one of the top-five courses on the Web.com Tour by over 85 percent of the membership.

“It’s a tremendous honor for our event to receive the 2018 Tournament of the Year award,” said Tournament Director Ryan Tahara. “We are blessed to have passionate volunteers, great fans and a committed title sponsor in WinCo Foods, and we are eager to continue building on the strong foundation in place as we look to 2019 and beyond.”

This year’s tournament is scheduled for Aug. 8-11 at Pumpkin Ridge’s Witch Hollow Golf Club, with two days of Pro-Ams and the four-day tournament. The top 25 on the tour will earn PGA Tour cards for 2020.
