The University of Washington men’s golf team has a new golf coach in Alan Murray, who had previously been at Alabama-Birmingham.

Murray becomes the 10th head men’s golf coach in school history. Murray is considered a rising star within the collegiate golf community. Murray earned GolfWeek’s 2014 National Coach of the Year honors and led the Blazers to their first NCAA regional title in 2015.

The Huskies have finished in the top 10 at the NCAA championships three times in the last 13 years, winning the Pac-12 golf title in 2005, 2009 and 2010. Former coach Matt Thurmond took the job at Arizona State University.

Murray played golf at Toledo from 1998-2002, earning all-MAC honors as a player and leading Toledo to the ‘02 MAC championship.

Former coach Matt Thurmond left the Washington men’s program to take over the head coaching position for the Arizona State University men’s golf program.
