Sun Valley Golf Resort in Idaho is known world-wide for its skiing, but don’t forget about the golf. With 45 holes, Sun Valley features three outstanding golf courses and a putting course. The 18-hole Trail Creek Course is Sun Valley’s signature course and it provides a challenging round of golf for every level of player. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed this traditional alpine course in 1980 with a full compliment of stream carries and ominous bunkers well positioned to catch the errant shot. Play crosses the beautiful Trail Creek seven times on the front nine alone!

Originally opened in 1974, Elkhorn Golf Club was created in the last collaboration between the famous design team of father and son Robert Trent Jones Senior and Junior. After an extensive renovation in 2004, the club reopened in 2005 and was acquired by the Sun Valley Company in July of 2011. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the front nine, which is quite hilly, while Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the back nine which follows a creek and has a water hazard on every hole but one.

Although Elkhorn Golf Club has memberships, Sun Valley’s Resort Guests have access and 18-hole Elkhorn Course.

The 9-hole White Clouds Golf Course is incredibly scenic with views of the Wood River Valley encompassing Bald Mountain, Dollar Mountain, the Pioneer Mountains, Angel’s Perch, Devil’s Bedstead and the home of Ernest Hemingway.
