Seattle native Fred Couples ended his PGA Tour Champions season by playing “the best round I have ever played.” Couples is talking about the 60 he shot in the final round of the SAS Championship at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, N.C. That round listed him to victory in his final tournament of the season. Couples has said he will not be playing in the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs.

The 63-year-old Couples not only shot his age but flirted with 59 along the way to his championship. It was his first victory in the PGA Tour Champions since 2017 when he won the Chubb Classic. Couples did lead his hometown Boeing Classic by six shots heading into the final round three years ago but couldn’t finish the deal shooting a 76 in the final round.

Amazingly, Couples started the SAS Championship by making a double bogey six on his first hole of the tournament. But then after that, he could do no wrong.
