Ryan Kelly entered the final round at the 2020 Kitsap Amateur golf championship hoping to break the tournament scoring record of 7-under.

Kelly settled for winning his fifth title on a smoke-filled Sunday at Kitsap Golf & Country Club. The 1992 Central Kitsap graduate followed his first-round 65 (5-under) with a 2-over 73 to secure a two-stroke win over Bob Davies. Kelly, who joined Seattle’s John Tuft the only five-time winners of the Kitsap Am, has now won the tournament in four different decades. His previous victories came in 1993, 1997, 2006 and 2019.

It put Kelly in position to chase the tournament scoring record of 135 that he shares with 1980 champion John Alexander. Kelly began the final round two strokes ahead of the three other members in the day’s final foursome: 2018 Kitsap Am champion Brady White, Garrett Clark and Pat Perkins.
