Medalist, Monica Vaughn of Reedsport, Ore. went wire-to-wire to win the 55th PNGA Junior Girls’ Amateur Championship at SpurWing Country Club.

Vaughn, the #1 seed and just a 15-year old was up against local favorite, Cali Hipp, a 17-year old from Caldwell, Idaho. Hipp won the first hole with a par and it was the first time all week that Vaughn has trailed in a match; however it was not for long as she calmly rolled in a 25-foot eagle putt on the 456-yard 2nd hole to better Hipp’s birdie and square the match. Both players halved the 3rd hole with pars and the 4th hole with birdies, before Vaughn took control of the match with birdies on the 5th, 7th and a chip in birdie on the 9th to take a 3-up advantage at the turn.

Vaughn added Medalist and Champion honors at the PNGA Junior Girls’ Amateur Championship to her already amazing record this summer which includes winning the Oregon Women’s Public Links, Oregon Women’s Amateur, Oregon Junior Amateur, finishing T2 at the Oregon Women’s Stroke Play, and T3 at the Girls’ Junior Americas Cup.
