Sometimes when you make the trip to Eastern Washington it’s not easy to see what the area has to offer. It’s just a vast area – you need to pick your spots. But here is a spot you definitely need to pick next time you are on your road trip – Red Wolf Golf Club in Clarkston, Wash.
This is a course with plenty of history and a place that can name drop as well.
Red Wolf opened as Clarkston Golf and Country Club back in 1937 and renovated in 1974. In 2018 the Nez Perce Tribe bought the course and changed the named to Red Wolf Golf Club.
Now, there is a new management team on site as CourseCo has taken over at Red Wolf, adding the course to its ever expanding list of courses that include Palouse Ridge, The Old Works and Glendoveer. The Nez Perce Tribe has pumped money into the course with new maintenance equipment, and more. The results have been what they had hoped for giving the course a more dramatic look as its sits adjacent to the Snake River.
And for that name dropping – PGA Tour star and Northwest native Joel Dahmen grew up on the course and his dad still lives 30 minutes away and his caddie Geno Bonnalie lives on the hills overlooking Lewiston Country Club.
The course has hosted its share of big-time tournaments including Pac-8 Championships, PNGA Championships and most recently the WSGA Seniors Championship in early June.
And year-round golf is a thing since the elevation of Clarkston is only 738 feet.
