Proposed golf resort on Olympic Peninsula gets scaled way back

The proposed Pleasant Harbor Marina and Golf Resort in Brinnon, Washington was subjected to another public hearing (there have been many) in Brinnon, Washington. The original plan included an 18-hole resort golf course, however, after ten years of frustration the developer (The Statesman Group from Alberta, Canada) has downsized their proposal to include only a 9-hole golf course.

What was proposed 10 years ago has become bogged down in a bureaucratic quagmire – the Jefferson County’s nine appointed planning commissioners will digest the public hearings, again, and make a recommendation to the county commissions, who may accept it or have more public hearings (can’t seem to have enough of these) before they decide. The latest hearing went the way of the others, about half in favor and half opposed – nothing new.

Either way, the hope for another golf resort in the Puget Sound region appears to be slipping away.
