Prineville, Portland golfers capture titles at Oregon Super Seniors event

Tom Liljieholm, 73, of Prineville, Ore. made a charge on the final day of the Oregon Super Senior Championship at Orchard Hills Country Club in Washougal, Wash. Despite inclement weather, he posted the low round of the tournament and finished at 78-75—157 to capture the overall title for Men age 65 and older, besting first round leader Jim Ferguson, 67 of Portland, Ore. and defending champion Bill Bristol, 67 of Vancouver, Wash.

In the Women’s Division, it was a three horse race to the finish as it was a par on the final hole by Karen Herness, 61, of Portland that was needed to edge Darlene Moen, 63, of Vancouver, Wash. by 1-stroke to win the overall title for Women age 60 and older.
