Portland golf writer Jim Achenbach, a member at Pumpkin Ridge/Witch Hollow, was honored at the 2010 Masters with a Masters Major Achievement Award.

The award was presented by Billy Payne, chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament.

Achenbach, an associate editor of Golfweek Magazine, was covering his 40th consecutive Masters. He travels more than 150 days a year for Golfweek, specializing in coverage of modern golf equipment and the United States Golf Association.

Although 21 journalists have been honored with the Masters Major Achievement Award, Achenbach is just the second from the West Coast (following Art Spander, longtime newspaper columnist in San Francisco and Oakland).
