PGA Tour professional and Portland-native Peter Jacobsen announced that he is bringing his party back to Portland.

Peter’s Party, a three-day tournament scheduled for summer 2011, will be held at the Portland Golf Club, the original home of Peter’s former local golf tournament, the Fred Meyer Challenge. The Fred Meyer Challenge ran for a total of 17 years, first at the Portland Golf Club from 1986-1991, then at the Oregon Golf Club in West Linn from 1992-1997 and finally at the Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha from 1998-2002.

“Ever since the end of the Fred Meyer Challenge I’ve felt like there was something missing,” said Jacobsen, “I’m committed to keeping men’s professional golf in Portland, and in the State of Oregon, and I’m so excited to be bringing this event back to my hometown.”

Peter’s Party will feature a Saturday Am-Am, Sunday Pro-Am and Monday/Tuesday main field event. The main field event will showcase eight two-person teams comprised of Champions Tour and PGA TOUR professionals. There will be a golf clinic on Monday morning and a dinner gala on Monday night. The tournament plans to embody the fun and exciting atmosphere of the Fred Meyer Challenge, while still focusing on helping to raise money for children’s charities. The Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel has signed on to be the first official partner charity of Peter’s Party.
