Nick Chianello used red-hot stretches to fuel a historic repeat win, and Kendall Prince used a slow-and-steady approach to gain her victory in the 104th Oregon Amateur at Eugene Country Club.
Chianello made eight birdies in his morning 18 holes in the 36-hole championship match, then held off Thomas Lim for a 4-and-3 win at Eugene Country Club. Chianello who recently completed his career at Oregon State, became the first repeat champion since Bob Prall in 1963-64.
Prince, last year’s runner-up, repeatedly made clutch par putts to hold off Beaverton High School phenom Gigi Stoll 3 and 1 in the women’s final.
