Northwest amateur star Tennant gets upset at the USGA Senior Women’s Am

It seemed like a perfect story was setting up at the USGA Senior Women’s Amateur for Lara Tennant. She was playing on her home course Waverley Country Club in Portland had dominated the two rounds of stroke play qualifying.

But in the first round of match play, the 50-year-old Tennant lost in the first round to Courtney Myhrum 1-up. Tennant had a large crowd following her for the third day of the tournament and she had hoped to give the home fans something to root for. But she came up short at Waverley, which was hosting its seventh USGA golf championship through the years.
