Murphy wins Lilac City crown

Vinnie Murphy of Linden Country Club in Puyallup, Wash. had a four-round total of 274 to win the Lilac City Invitational at The Fairways Golf Course in Cheney, Wash.

Murphy had rounds of 71-71-64-68 to finish 14 under par for the tournament and win the $10,000 first-place check.

Murphy held off Shane Prante and Li Wang of Sahalee Country Club. Both Prante and Wang finished one back at 13 under par. Drew Reinland of Clarkston Golf Club was fourth at 10 under while Derek Barron of Tacoma Country and Golf Club and who plays on the Mackenzie Tour in Canada was fifth at 279, tying with Jamie Hall of Jefferson Park.

Austin Landis of Trails End Golf Center tied for seventh at 7 under with Corey Prugh, the men’s and women’s golf coach at the Community Colleges of Spokane.
