He had a Washington State Par-3 Championship in mind when he bought the Highlands, but Jack Connelly is not one to wait very long.

On September 10th and 11th his wish will come true in a two-day golf tournament affair with prizes galore.

He is inviting 72 golfers to compete in a 36-hole tournament with awards for the top five finishers, a coveted Tartan Vest for the champ, hole-in-one prizes on every hole, KPs on every one, too.

Then, to top it off, a $100,000 hole-in-one shot could be yours as well. Determined to make it an unforgettable occasion, Jack promises it to be one of the best ever staged in Tacoma for our area golfers.

What has prompted such a “wave” of that potential? National recognition, that’s what. The Yelp Advisors of San Francisco have rated it #2, right behind Chambers Bay among the best Northwest public courses, big or small. The state’s Golf Advisors have given it a 4-star rating among 102 reviews, placing it 7th among all the state’s public courses (the only par-3 to be so honored).

To those who live here, the best of all is that you don’t need to fly to Hawaii or Arizona to find a course like this or to experience such a “haul” in prizes. It should be on your “can’t miss” list
