Billed as The Open Before the Open, 48 hickory players dressed in turn-of-the-century period clothing descended on Chambers Bay on May 24, the last day the course was open before closing for the U.S. Open, scheduled to start on June 18th.

The players teed it forward to replicate the 1895 yardage of 5,510 yards.

The event was put on by AP National and sponsored by Michelob Ultra.

Scores ranged from 74 to 119 with players traveling from as far away as England, New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C. Texas, Nebraska, Michigan and California.

The players used wooden-shafted clubs and Mcintyre replica golf balls.
