The 2010 United States Amateur is set for Aug. 23-29 at both Chambers Bay and the Home Course and everything is shaping up nicely for the event, said Brian Simpson of the U.S. Amateur.
“Tickets and sponsorship are going well,” he said. “We are looking forward to a great event.”
When the 312 players get a look at Chambers Bay they will see some significant changes and a long golf course. Nine new tees will stretch the course to 7,712 yards from the back tees. A new green on the uphill par-5 fourth hole will give players a chance for some dramatic shots as well.
Renovation of many bunkers has been completed and the bunker on the 18th hole has been extended. At the Home Course, the 11th and 12th holes have both been re-done as well.
Tickets for the U.S. Amateur are $25 for a daily ticket and $65 for a weekly pass, which includes all seven days of the tournament. Kids under 17 are admitted free to the event with a ticketed adult.
