Barron wins Riverbend Amateur

Derek Barron fired a two-round total of 141 to win the championship of the Riverbend Amateur at Riverbend Golf Course in Kent, Wash.
Barron, of Oakbrook Country Club in Tacoma, opened the 36-hole tournament with a 4-under-par 68 and then followed it up with a 73 to win the tournament buy one stroke over Broc Johnson of Riverbend and Sean McMullen of Fairwood, who both fired two-round totals of 142.
Mike Turchin of Riverbend was fourth at 143 while Brandon Lorain of Meridian Valley and Dave Farnam of Druids Glen tied for fifth at 145 while John Eisentrout of Indian Summer was seventh at 146.
A total of 174 players took part in the annual event, one of the largest in the NW.
