Washington Par-3 Championship set for September

Updated: July 30, 2022

On September 10th and 11th the Highlands Golf Course, in Tacoma, will hold the Washington State Par-3 Championship.

72 golfers will compete in a 36-hole tournament with awards for the top five finishers, a coveted Tartan Vest for the champ, hole-in-one and KP prizes on every hole.

Then, to top it off, a $100,000 hole-in-one shot could be yours as well. Jack Connelly, the owner of Highland GC, is determined to make it an unforgettable occasion, he promises it to be one of the best ever staged in Tacoma for our area golfers.

What has prompted such a “wave” of that potential? National recognition, that’s what. The Yelp Advisors of San Francisco have rated it #2, right behind Chambers Bay among the best Northwest public courses, big or small. The state’s Golf Advisors have given it a 4-star rating among 102 reviews, placing it 7th among all the state’s public courses (the only par-3 to be so honored).

To those who live here, the best of all is that you don’t need to fly to Hawaii or Arizona to find a course like this or to experience such a “haul” in prizes. It should be on your “can’t miss” list
