The NCAA golf regionals were good news for the University of Oregon men and bad news for the University of Washington.

Oregon team finished second at the Tucson Regional with a score of 17-under to earn a berth in the NCAA Championships, which will take place at the Ducks’ home course, Eugene Country Club.

Washington watched as Virginia birded the last hole to earn the fifth and final spot from the Tennessee Regional.

The Huskies fired a final round of 8-under 286, which was just one shot back of No. 26 Virginia who took the final spot to nationals at 22-under for the week. The Cavaliers had two players birdie the final hole to leave the Huskies on the outside looking in.

No. 2 Texas cruised to the Regional title at 45-under, while No. 9 Vanderbilt finished second at 34-under. The rest of the field was in a dogfight to get to nationals, but unfortunately the Huskies came up just short. No. 35 Houston had a big day to move up to a tie for third with No. 14 LSU at 25-under, while Virginia held on for fifth at 22-under.

Freshman Carl Yuan had the best finish for the Huskies, placing fifth.

For the Ducks, it marks their third straight trip to the NCAA Championships.
