Justin Kadin (Corvallis, Ore.) and Kate Harper (Portland, Ore.) withstood tough competition to win their respective divisions at the 27th Oregon Mid-Amateur Championship, held August 15-16 at Wildhorse Resort in Pendleton, Ore.
Kadin went in to the second and final day leading by three shots, but was challenged right out of the gate on Sunday. After seven birdies on Saturday, Kadin had three on Sunday, and was consistent enough to hold off numerous competitors who took advantage of the mild temperatures and reduced wind gusts. Kadin finished with scores of 66-72 – 138 (-6), winning his first Oregon Mid-Amateur Championship by one shot.
