It will have the same name, but Olympia Country and Golf Club will start looking different. Olympia Country and Golf Club, one of the oldest clubs in the Pacific Northwest has a new owner who has promised some wholesale changes.

Angela Bowen, who is also a member of the club, made the purchase taking over the club from Budd Land Company. Bowen will waste little time in making improvements to the club, sinking between $8 and $10 million to the clubhouse and the golf course.

The club had fallen on some hard times in recent years with membership dropping to 160. The course was in need of a financial infusion but did not want to raise dues. It did, however, make $100,000 through voluntary contributions but it wasn’t enough.

Bowen is an endocrinologists and has been a member of the clubs for years. She decided to take the financial plunge and buy the club.

One of the biggest proposals on the table is to replace the clubhouse with a large, three-story meeting hall with banquet hall, formal dining room, and fitness center. A temporary clubhouse will be set up while the construction is going on at the club.
