OGA crowns Amateur champs

Bryce Wortman, Amanda Jacobs and Lara Tennant were all crowned champions at the Oregon Amateur Championship at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.

Wortman, from Creswell, never trailed in the match in defeating Ben Wanichek 8&7 in the men’s final. It is Wortman’s first Oregon Amateur Championship title.

On the women’s side, Jacobs jumped out to a big lead and, like Wortman, never trailed during the match in defeating the two-time defending champion Ellie Slama 5&3. It is Jacobs first Oregon Amateur Championship crown.

Tennant, from Portland, won her fourth consecutive Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur Championship. She fell behind in the match to top seed Ginny Burkey.
