Pacific Northwest native Joe Highsmith came from behind to win his first PGA Tour event when he claimed the Cognizant Classic in Florida.
Highsmith graduated from Tacoma’s Bellarmine Prep High School in 2018 and then became an NCAA champion when he went to Pepperdine.
Highsmith made the cut right on the number at the Cognizant Classic but then rolled over the weekend and when he made a 5-foot putt on his final hole it secured his first PGA Tour win. He was the first player in nine years to go from making the cut on the number to winning a tournament.
He now qualifies for The Masters this month.
