Brian Thornton leads team to Pro-Am Championship win

PGA Professional Brian Thornton of Meridian Valley CC and amateur Todd Densley won the Pro-Amateur Championship by seven strokes over first round leaders PGA Professional Mike DeLong of Coeur d’Alene Resort with his amateur Bob Christensen. Thornton and Densley fired a nine under par 63 at the new Rope Rider course at Suncadia Resort.

Thornton and Densley fired a two-round total of 131 (68-63) as Thornton collected the first-place check of $1,750.

DeLong and Christensen were seven shots back after rounds of 67-71. Scott Erdmann and partner Jeff Hirata tied for third with the teams of Cameron Fife and Sean Foushee, Barry Walter and Dan Whitaker and Josh Immordino and Mike Kerns who were all at 139 for the tournament.
