Fall golf trips are always the perfect idea. The weather is still good with warm temperatures and the sun usually finds a way to keep showing up through September and October.

There are plenty of places that offer a great fall retreat, but the Apple Tree Golf Club in Yakima, Wash. might be right at the top of the list. With its 18-hole championship course, plenty of challenges along the way and the world-famous apple-shaped green, Apple Tree Golf Course has just about everything the traveling golfer is looking for.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. As you make your way off the 17th and take a look at the par-5 18th hole, there are even more challenges. There is one of the irrigation ponds on the left side of the fairway and the tee shot gives you choices about how much distance you want to cut off. The green sits on a hill in front of the clubhouse. A great way to finish off the round.

Another new addition was a rock wall complete with a water fall on the par-5 fifth hole, which makes you think about how you want to attack the green with your approach shot.

As you make your way around the course, it’s apparent that the housing component is an integral part. With houses and condominiums dotting the Apple Tree landscape, they really don’t come into play with the fairways being generous. But the houses and condos themselves are first-class. When people looking to relocate or move in Yakima, they see the benefits of over 300 days of sunshine a year and custom-built homes lining one of the top golf courses in the Pacific Northwest.

The clubhouse sits on top of a hill and overlooks the property. The Apple Tree Grill is a popular spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
