Pacific Northwest players make strong showing at USGA Senior Women’s Am
Not only was the Pacific Northwest well represented when it came to...
Congratulations to Austin Hurt of Wing Point Golf & Country Club on earning a spot on the 2026 United States PGA Cup Team.
Hurt was one of just 10 PGA of America Golf Professionals selected to represent the U.S. against Great Britain & Ireland at the 32nd PGA Cup in October at The K Club in County Kildare, Ireland. One of the highest honors in professional golf, Austin earned his spot through a two-year points race that included the PGA Professional Championship and PGA Championship.
The American didn’t fare well however as the Great Britain and Ireland team took care of the Americans 16 1/2-9 1/2 to win the PGA Cup on European soil.
For Hurt, making the American team was a huge goal.
He has won the Washington Amateur, two Washington Assistant Championships, and the PNW PGA Professional Championship twice. But earning a spot on the PGA Cup team carries a different significance.
“Making the PGA Cup is extremely humbling.” Hurt’s first championship, the Washington Amateur, came in 2009. Looking back, he would tell his younger self to appreciate the journey a little more after winning that event.
