The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship brought the stars of the LPGA Tour to Sahalee Country Club where 34-year-old Amy Yang won the title by three strokes at the LPGA major championship. Amy Yang has waited a long time to hoist a major championship trophy, but after 17 years on tour she finally got that elusive major title. Yang has come in second in two U.S. Opens before finally breaking through with her fist major win.
World’s top-ranked player Nelly Korda surprised everyone when she missed the cut by one stroke. Crowd favorite Lex Thompson, who had previously announced that she would retire from competitive golf at the end of this season, finished tied for ninth after leading in the first round. Vancouver Washington resident and Oregon native Carolyn Inglis finished tied for ninth.
