If ever there was a perfect community recreational center, it would be Glendoveer Golf & Tennis in Northeast Portland.

East Course

The entire facility encompasses over 240 acres with golf and tennis as the main attraction of the property. It also has a popular 2-mile fitness trail for joggers and walkers that borders the golf course.

Originally owned and operated by the Stenzel family the property was eventually purchased buy the county in 1974. CourseCo, a first-class course management company with several other Northwest courses under their umbrella, took over management of the facility in 2012.

There are two excellent 18-hole courses at Glendoveer: the east course, at 6,295 yards, a par 73 and slope of 123, is considered the more demanding of the two because of its length and tight, tree-lined fairways and bunkers. Water comes into play on 3 holes. The West Course opened in 1928 and is one of the oldest in the city. It is a little easier of the two courses at 5,922 yards, and is a par 71 with a slope of 115, it has more open fairways and fewer bunkers. Being relatively flat, it is also easier to walk.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a golfboard and surf the earth and add a new challenging experience to your round of golf.

Glendoveer’s practice facility includes practice greens and a covered double-decker driving range with 30 hitting spaces. Some have heated stations for winter practice.

Being one of the few facilities in Portland that has 36 holes, groups of up to 288 players can be accommodated on the East and West golf courses. This allows for larger group tournaments. Their recently built outdoor patio area offers a wonderful area to gather afterwards for food and awards.

The other big attraction at Glendoveer is tennis, which includes 4 indoor courts and all of the amenities you could want like ball machines, lessons, racket repair and more.

It doesn’t end there: For the disc golf fans, it is available on select days throughout the year including their tournament in October. They will host the Disc Golf Pro Tour Portland Classic on June 1-4.

For those who don’t play golf or tennis, but enjoy soccer, Glendoveer integrated the two sports when it opened the first FootGolf course in the Northwest on May 6, 2014. The course is available for special events.

Glendoveer is a one-of-a-kind hub for recreation in the Portland area with several community events like summer camps, junior camps, movie night, and kid activities that enhance their place in the community.
