The Portland LPGA Classic has been the longest continuous event on the LPGA Tour since its inception in 1972. But all that might be coming to an end. For the past two years the event has been held without a title sponsor and without a title sponsor it makes it tough to increase the purse and attract a top-quality field.
The LPGA said it is working on trying to find a title sponsor for the event and keep it on the 2024-25 schedule but so far no takers. The LPGA’s goal is to keep the Portland event on the schedule for next year and they have meetings set up in hopes of doing just that.
PING was the original title sponsor for the event when it started back in 1972. In 1995 Safeway took over with the naming rights of the tournament before Cambia Health Solutions came on board as a presenting sponsor. AmazingCre was the last title sponsor for the event back in 2022.
