Connor Robbins has had some close calls in his golf career, but winning the 99th annual Washington Open Invitational at Tacoma Country and Golf Club just might have been the closest.
Robbins, from North Shore Golf Course in Tacoma, birdied the 54th and final hole to win the tournament by one shot over several players who were breathing down his neck. Robbins finished at 13 under par for the tournament shooting rounds of 68-68-67.
He was able to hold off Blake Snyder of the PNW Golf Academy, Rodolfo Caparas of Five Iron Golf in Kirkland, Jesses Heinly of Parscription Golf and amateur Andrew Von Lossow of Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane who all finished one shot back at 12-under for the tournament.
Robbins is a teaching professional at North Shore Golf Course as well as the head golf coach at the University of Puget Sound.
James Hall of the PNW Golf Academy finished sixth at 11 under, while Walker Lamb of Seattle U. and Dan Campbell of Bellingham Golf and Country Club finished at 10 under. JJ Bordeaux of Fircrest and Tim Feenstra of Broadmoor were at 9 under.
