Pat Shields is the new owner of the Mt. Adams Country Club.

Located in Toppenish, Washington, Mount Adams Country Club is a classic 18-hole golf course that is open to public play and has been a staple of the region since 1926.  The course plays to 6,388 yards and has a new owner. Pat Shields, bought the club for $1.7 million and is making significant changes.

In an interview with the yakimabusinesstimes, Shields said, “We’re making a lot of changes in hopes of creating a place people not only want to come here to golf, but also a venue people will want to come to enjoy a nice evening out.

Shields also said he was remodeling the clubhouse, hiring an executive chef and building a lovely patio, so people can enjoy a romantic dining experience. He is also relocating the ninth hole and replacing it with an event center.

The course is closed while reconstruction is in process. A new irrigation system is part of the reconstruction and they expect to be open for 2026.

Shields is a former co-owner of Shields Bag and Printing in Yakima and is an avid golfer. It is his first time owning a golf course. Read the entire interview at the Yakima Valley Business Times.
