The Discovery Bay Golf Course celebrated its 100-year centennial last year and is now scheduled to go on the auction block on May 11. Bidding for the 200-acre property, located five miles south of Port Townsend, Washington, will start at $1.5 million. A group called the Discovery Bay Wellness Community want to acquire the property and reduce the course from 18 to 9 holes to accommodate 42 homes and various community amenities. They are seeking funding to bid for the property. Another faction of local community members are working with the Jefferson Land Trust to explore the possibility of a conservation easement, which would aim to protect the property’s wetlands and forested areas from development. Either way, the course’s future is uncertain.

At present, Jefferson County has 3 golf courses: Port Ludlow, Camas Meadows (formerly Port Townsend Golf Course) and Discovery Bay Golf Course.
