U.S. Open Northwest qualifiers set

The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced local qualifying sites for the 117th U.S. Open Championship. The U.S. Open will be contested for the first time at Erin Hills, in Erin, Wis., on June 15-18. Local qualifying, conducted over 18 holes at 114 sites in 44 states and Canada, will take place between May 2-18. Canada will host a local qualifier for the first time.

Qualifiers in the Pacific Northwest include Canterwood Country Club in Gig Harbor, Wash. on May 8, Pronghorn Nicklaus in Bend on May 9, BanBury in Eagle, Idaho on May 14 and Wine Valley in Walla Walla on May 18.

Tacoma Country and Golf Club will host the sectional qualifier in May with the top players heading to the U.S. Open at Erin Hills.

• Qualifying for the U.S. Women’s Open will take place at 21 sites in the United States and four international sites.

The tournament is set for July 13-16 at Trump National in Bedminster, N.J. Qualifying in the Pacific Northwest will take place at the OGA Course in Woodburn, Ore. on June12. Entry deadline is May 17.
