Jeff Coston of Semiahmoo G&CC fired a final round 5-under par 67 for a three round total of 17-under par 199 to win the 2010 7 Cedars Senior Washington Open Invitational.

Coston faced a stiff challenge from Stone Creek GC professional Ted Westling who carded rounds of 67-66-69 but couldn’t quite overtake the four-time defending champion. Scott Williams of Glendale CC and Don Bies of Seattle GC finished another stroke back at 203.

Williams was playing in his first Senior Washington Open since turning 50. Don Bies, the 72-year-old veteran of the PGA and Champions Tours thrilled the gallery by going 7-under par for the first 10 holes of his final round and finishing with a 65 for the day. Coston opened the tournament with his own 65 and held off every challenger after that.

Tom Brandes of Rainier G&CC with a 10-under par 206 total, won the Amateur Title for the second time. Four strokes back at 210 were the trio of Larry Daniels of West Seattle GC, Tom Phillips of the Members Club at Aldarra, and Chris Maletis of Langdon Farms GC.

Professional Joe Peccia from Rock Creek CC led his team of Tom Lewis of Riverbend GC, Larry Pulver of The Cedars at Dungeness, and Jim Wilson of Indian Summer G&CC to the 36 hole team championship.
